Do you want to have your outfit shown on our blog? Email us at ldscoveredgirls@gmail.com if your interested!! We're tired of it only being us, we want to see you!!! :)
My family did a photo shoot with a friend of ours last month for our Christmas card picture (and because we hadn't done family photos for a while). I figured they could serve two purposes so I'm posting the pictures of me here. Also, I did a photo shoot with Emily and two of our friends today and will be getting the pictures soon to post.
Sweater: Forever 21
Belt: Aeropostale
Pants: Target
Shoes: ordered online (Converse)
The pictures were taken on a high quality camera so unfortunately, they look a little grainy when they are smaller .
Here is a medley of three Adele songs done by Alex Goot, Justin Robinett, and Michael Henry. Enjoy!
I know I've apologized for this multiple times but I am again sorry for the giant pauses in between posts on this blog. The three of us just entered our junior year in high school which means AP classes and, over the summer, summer assignment for all of us. Anyways here is an outfit of mine that I like to wear to church.
Shirt: Forever 21
Black tank-top*: Walmart
Skirt: Target
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: my mom's
*The black tank-top was worn underneath the shirt to make it modest because it was a bit too baggy.
And surprise surprise, Target actually has some modest skirts! And more than one style! And lots of color choices! Say what?!
Also, I'm excited to announce that I started a music blog (in addition to this one, not to replace it) over the summer! This one is solely clean music so you will probably not see any music on this blog outside of one song per outfit post. I try to post on it every Monday but again, I go back and forth between the two blogs. It's called Noteworthy and the link is right here --> http://anoteworthytune.blogspot.com/
Please follow my Noteworthy blog and this blog if you haven't already! Thank you for your support! We love you guys!
I know it has been a long time since we have updated but its been a little crazy. Today was the last day of school for us though so we will be posting again :)
LDS prom was held on May 3rd which Emily and I attended. Finding a modest dress was a long and difficult process but I'm going to tell you what I did to hopefully help you out for the next time you go to a formal dance.
Here we go!
Before Prom
Me, Ellen, Sara, and Emily.
The dress: A friend of mine who is in college now actually gave me the dress she wore for her junior prom... and that dress was given to her by someone in her ward. A good way to start is to ask around (or on Facebook, which I did). You may not have to spend much, if anything that way. The dress was modest already but it was about two sizes too big for me. I ended up taking it to a local alterations place and got it taken in to fit me better. Afterwards, I realized that it was going to be too low in the front and we couldn't tighten it anymore on the sides. We used three different methods to fix this problem.
1. Fold the front over itself and sew (I tried to upload pictures of it but it didn't work.
Basically, kind of scrunch it together and sew a line straight down). This made it look a little odd so...
2. My mom had found some sandals at a garage sale a while back and she took the top decorative part off. She made a headband with one and the other we sewed to my dress to cover the stitches.
3. I found a black camisole at Target that had lace on the top and came up high enough to solve my problem.
I could make up a thousand excuses for why we haven't updated in over a month but I think the biggest for Emily and I was the hassle of LDS Prom, which we will be posting pictures of very soon.
Finding dresses that are long enough and have sleeves is hard! Everything is so short these days. Finding a dress that is modest, not to expensive, AND super cute for Mormon Prom = Hardest thing on the planet. I need serious help! Please if you know any where for dresses tell me!!
ModCloth has pretty much been the only site I've really seen stuff I like that may work. They even have a section under dresses called 'Longer Lengths'. The only problems are the price and the fact its all online. What would be your Maximum to spend on a Prom dress your Sophomore year? Would you buy yours online?
Here are some of my current favorites:
The sleeves/skirt probably aren't long enough for Mormon Prom though...
This one is out of stock...
To causal for prom?
What I really wanted was a lace dress, but i cannot find a single one long enough! I might have to resort to buying a dress and sewing fabric to make it longer.
Help me:'( I'm open to any suggestions.
I hope something good will work out with my dress issue so here's to hoping:
In case you can't tell, owls are my favorite animals :)
Shirt: Khols
Pants: Target
Scarf: Urban Outfitters
A scarf is a great way add noise to an otherwise quiet outfit. Urban Outfitters can be pretty expensive though. Some of their sale prices end up being a "typical" store price (meaning stores like Target, Forever 21, and Wet Seal). Occasionally, things like this scarf are worth it.
I'm really excited to share this song because it is probably my favorite right now. It was an iTunes song of the week a few weeks ago so I downloaded it (for free!) and I've come to love it.
