Elephants on Parade

Sorry about the wait. The Christmas season and last few weeks of school leading up to the break can get pretty dang hecktic.
Anywho, I am excited to announce that we are going to add a new kind of post into the mix. We will be searching store websites, finding outfit pieces, posting pictures and links to the site, and putting together outfits that way. This way, you can actually buy the outfits if you wanted, since they are current to the store. Here we go!

Top: Forever 21

It's a little hard to tell from the picture but there a a ton of little elephants on this shirt.

I mostly focused on the store Forever 21 for this post. They have a ton of options at good prices. They feature all kinda of styles, have something for everyone, and their stores are all over the place.
Papaya is new to the mall near me but I'm finding that it has great options.

Exploring Musical Frontiers

I'm really excited for the music section of our blog. Music means a lot to me and I am always happy to find an amazing song with clean lyrics, as most people are. One day we might do a seperate blog dedicated to music but for now I want to do a post with only songs just to throw some choices out there. I listen to most kinds of music so I will be providing a large array of genres to choose from.

First off: Lego House by Ed Sheeran
I'm hoping to learn this song on acoustic guitar soon.
By the way, anyone recognize this actor from Harry Potter?

Next we have Gold Mine by Breanne Düren. If you are a fan of Adele you will probably enjoy this. Breanne is a part of Owl City's touring group and she does the back up vocals for a few of their songs. She has only released one EP on her own so far called Sparks.

Doesn't this look like it would be really fun?
Second Go by Lights.

The music video for We Are One Tonight by Switchfoot is one of my favorites. It was made really well and I am amazed how they made this all come together.

This is just a great feel-good song.
Undefeated by Jason Derulo.

Have a magnificent day!

Homecoming

It was a fun, fun night! It was also almost a month ago, but here is what I wore!! I didn't wear my hair like this though. Haha:) Anyways, I looked for a dress forever!! All the dresses I saw were too short or too tight or too boring. I finally bought my dress at the thrift store. Score!
Dress: Thrifted
Shoes: American Eagle/Payless
Necklace: Forever 21
Bracelet: H&M

I had an absolute blast! I felt pretty, confident, & covered in my dress. I stood out a tad in my bright, to the knee dress from my friends. But I got so many genuine compliments from people who really liked my dress that was a little bit different!

Different is good. Be unique. Stand out from the world. Have fun.

Peace Out

Emily

Elegance

Dress: Local secondhand boutique
Shoes: Payless
Clutch: My mom made it
Necklace: My mom's (formerly my aunt's)
Ring: Also my mom's

This dress was a great find. It was a big surprise too. It was a little store nearby that I hadn't noticed before but I saw a dress in the window that looked promising so I went in. It paid off!

The clutch provided a nice pop of color. This makes an outfit more interesting.
Other ways you could add color include, but are not limited to: shoes, ring, earrings, hair clip (like a big flower or something), necklace or bracelet.
It is easy to do with a plain colored or a black and white outfit, like this. Pick a complementary color and incorporate it throughout your outfit!

There are two more points I want to touch on.
First, Target has a bunch of cute, modest skirts right now so check it out!
Second is a fashion trend I've noticed recently. I've noticed that some girls wear leggings to replace pants. I know this can be a controversial topic because it wouldn't be something one would necessarily think of as immodest to begin with but do not to do it. It hugs your body in ways that it shouldn't and I think it is just awkward for everyone around you who looks at that. This is just my opinion. By no means am I saying that leggings are evil either. They can be used to make an outfit modest in some cases. I just wanted to stress that they shouldn't replace pants.

Have a splendid day!

Goodbye Summer!

I realized that I have the outfit laid out with different shoes than I wore for the pictures. Oops :) Either one works though. Here are the one's I wore.
Sweater: H&M
Dark blue tank top: Walmart (you can pretty much find those anywhere)
Dark blue tank top with white flowers: The Closet (it's an actual store)
Jeans: Walmart
Belt: Aeropostale
Necklace: Claire's
Flip-flops: Payless

Also, here is what I did with my hair. I like fishtail braids but they never stay so I did a partial fishtail leading into a side ponytail.

This outfit is perfect for those days when it is pleasantly cold, not too hot or too cold. I am so glad summer is over and we don't have that terrible heat. The tank top with the white flowers on it was see through so I made it modest by wearing another tank top underneath. I also like to tuck in a lot of my shirts and wear a thick belt.

I absolutely love this song! It is so beautiful and poetic.
I have to admit, the video is a little odd.

FALL HAS ARRIVED

Sweater: Old Navy
Pea-Coat: DELiA*S(THRIFTED THOUGH)
Scarf: Target
Jeans: Fashion Time
Shoes: Toms(Nordstrom)
Shoulder Bag: Mom's from the 80's!:)

Since it was a very windy and chilly day, I decided to bust out the scarf and coat. I paried this outfit with bright red lipstick and a ballerina(sock)bun. Underneath the bun I placed a simple forest green bow. Also, always feel good about paring a pea coat with a scarf. Together it creates the perfect winter look. :)

THANKS!!! ENJOY THE MUSIC!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

Something Simple

I must apologize in advance for the less then desirable quality of my pictures! I forget to take them until its too dark outside due to day light savings!!! Any ways here I go...

Ah! The bad quality kills me inside.
Shirt: Forever 21
Pants: H&M
Belt: Target
Shoes: Thrifted!!!!
Here's all the parts laid out. This was a super simple out fit; blue button up and black skinnies, but I tried to make it a little less boring.

Here's some tips to dress up an otherwise plain outfit.
1. Tuck your shirt in.
You may think this looks a little nerdy but you don't have to tuck in the WHOLE shirt, maybe just the front to show off your belt.
2. Roll up your pants.
Just roll them up 2 or 3 times for a long capri look or roll up your regular jeans till they look more skinny.
3. Fancy shoes.
I LOVE my new, thrift store/vintage, shoes!!! They did not come with laces so I laced them up with ribbons. :) They are a wonderful nude color so basically they go with anything. Any cute or colorful shoes dress up an outfit.
4. Jewelry.
A cute necklace or bracelet would have made this outfit! Accessories are always fun!

Okay Guys!! I have an offer, if you want to show off your cute outfit on our blog email us at ldscoveredgirls@gmail.com! Send with it where you got each item and anything else you want to put!  Lets get some other girls with cute, modest fashion on here!!! :D

Have a great weekend!!

DIY (do it yourself)

(Sorry about this being sideways. It wouldn't let me turn it for some reason)

Shirt: H&M
Pencil Skirt: My mom made it!
Nylons: Khols
Shoes: Payless

Sometimes it is too hard to find certain articles of clothing that are modest. What's the solution? Make it! My mom made this pencil skirt using a pattern found in the book Little Green Dresses by Tina Sparkles (pretty great name, huh?). We had to modify the pattern a little (she made it longer and changed the waistband a bit). One thing you have to understand is that my mom doesn't often make clothes so this doesn't require magnificent sewing skills. You don't have to be a master seamstress to make some of your own clothes or even alter them a bit (post on that to come soon).

There's a Club!

Hey! I got an e-mail today from the No Cussing Club president (if you haven't heard of it or haven't joined, here is the link to the site http://www.nocussing.com/) and it was talking about a Modesty Club that his sister had started at her school. Isn't that great? However, she is getting bullied pretty badly and he is asking for people's help to end this. Join her club and show them that modesty is important ASAP! Here is the link to her Modesty Club site http://www.modestyclub.com/. Join!

p.s. When you sign up to become a member, I'm sure she would appreciate if you left her some words of encouragement in the comments box :)

One Chilly October Sunday

Sweater: Old Navy
Lace Skirt: DownEast(A wonderful Modest store)
Leggings: JcPenny
Belt and Oxfords: THRIFTED vintage!!

This outfit is a great one for days that are chilly, but not jacket chilly. The black and brown combination compliment each other very well in this situation. The lace skirt adds a sense of vintage to the outfit as well. And, to top the entire outfit off, I placed a brown Ralph Lauren belt and wore a pair of Steve Madden Oxfords. (And the polka dots are a PLUS to the outfit too!!)

Sunday Attire!!!

Cardigan: Old Navy
Blouse: Forever 21
Skirt: Down East ( a wonderful modest store!)
Shoes: Thrifted(Vintage)

This is a simple sunday outfit(or dressy outfit) that I like to wear.
Adding a colored cardigan always adds the perfect touch to any outfit.
You must be careful when wearing two different patterns, but it CAN be done. Here I'm wearing a double polka dot blouse with a patterned skirt. In this case it works great! The shoes are also a plus to this outfit. There vintage shoes that I scored at a local thrift store. Thrift stores can be dirty at times, but when you find something amazing for a cheap price, you can't resist!!!

Have a GREAT Sunday!!

Here's the song for today!! It's a Taylor Swift Favorite!

Regular Tuesday

Shirt: Thrifted! (I'll do a post on thrift store shopping soon)
Cardigan: Target
Jeans: Hollister
Belt: Target
Shoes: Payless
I don't usually shop at Hollister but they had an amazing sale recently so I bought these jeans. They are skinny but not skin tight, so they are modest and cute.
I do buy lots of my stuff from Thrift Stores, they have so much cute and interesting clothes there! And for really cheap! The shirt I'm wearing today is from my thrifting trip yesterday. It is actually a tank top so, of course, I'm wearing a cardigan over it to keep it modest. More detailed picture below. The cardigan was a nice touch because its getting cooler here in California.

 Have a Happy Tuesday!

Oh yeah! And here is my clean song of the day, Paradise by Coldplay. Its got a cute music video too so watch it!!

First Outfit Post! Woot Woot!

Shirt: Cotton On
Pants: Walmart
Belt: I have no idea
This is the perfect outfit for summer in California. It gets sooo hot so a lightweight shirt is a must. I like to wear pants all year long so I compensate for the heat by wearing flipflops a lot.

In addition to posting outfit ideas and where we got all of the peices from, we are going to upload a song with each post. These songs will always have clean lyrics and we will feature many different genres. Here is one of my favorite songs and, if you think about it, it represents what we hope to accomplish with this blog. Finding modest clothing is no easy task. Doing what is right is a constant battle in which it may seem like good isn't winning. Just know that "in the chaos there is a standard" and "carry it like a banner". Good will always triumph.
